Special tools and workshop equipment required

• ◆ Oil seal extractor 3203
• ◆ Counterhold 3415
• ◆ Assembly device T10053

Removing

• ● Engine in position
• ● Lock carrier in service position =>Page 13-1.

• ‒ Remove toothed belt =>Page 13-36.
• ‒ → Unbolt stop for torque reaction support -arrows-.

• ‒ → Remove crankshaft toothed belt. To do so, lock toothed belt sprocket with counterhold 3415.

• ‒ → Before applying oil seal extractor, screw central bolt of toothed belt sprocket as far as it will go into crankshaft.

• ‒ Turn inner section of oil seal extractor 3203 eight turns out of outer section and lock with a knurled screw.
• ‒ → Lubricate threaded end of oil seal extractor, fit in position and screw firmly into oil seal as far as possible.
• ‒ Slacken off knurled screw and turn inner section against crankshaft until oil seal is pulled out.
• ‒ Clamp flats of oil seal extractor in vice. Use pliers to remove oil seal.
• ‒ Clean contact and sealing surface.

Installing

• ‒ Do not lubricate sealing lip of oil seal.
• ‒ → Fit guide sleeve T10053/1 onto crankshaft journal.
• ‒ Slip oil seal over guide sleeve.

• ‒ → Press in oil seal with central bolt of toothed belt sprocket and thrust sleeve from T10053 such that it is flush.
• ‒ Replace bolt for toothed belt sprocket.

• ‒ → Fit crankshaft toothed belt sprocket. To do so, support toothed belt sprocket with counterhold 3415.

Notes:

• ◆ There must not be any oil on contact surface between toothed belt sprocket and crankshaft.
• ◆ Do not lubricate bolt for crankshaft toothed belt sprocket.

• ‒ Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) => Page 13-44.
• ‒ Install lock carrier =>Page 13-1.

Tightening torque

    1)    Replace bolt

    2)    90°corresponds to quarter of a turn
