Clutch counterhold tool -VW 558-

Depth gauge

Bolt M8x45
t
Nuts M10 (2x)
Removing
l
Engine/gearbox removed.
–
Mark position of drive plate in relation to crankshaft.
–
Secure clutch counterhold tool -VW 558- to drive plate using bolt M8x45

. Fit two M10 nuts

between counterhold tool and drive plate.

Remove drive plate.
–
Remove shim located behind.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

Fit shim

on crankshaft.

Install drive plate with washer

Lug

must face torque converter.
–
Insert at least 3 old bolts and tighten to 30 Nm.
–
Measure distance through torque converter securing hole using depth gauge.
l
Specification: Distance
-a-
= 18.9 ... 20.5 mm.
–
If specification is not attained, remove drive plate and remove or add shim

.
–
Repeat measurement (tighten bolts on drive plate to 30 Nm).
Note
Renew securing bolts for drive plate before tightening bolts to final torque.
