Stress-free alignment of exhaust system   Note The exhaust system must be aligned when it is cool.

Vehicles with front-wheel drive without clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer –  Loosen bolts of front clamps → Item and → Item. –  Push exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that mounting for centre silencer is preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 9 mm. –  Tighten bolt connections of clamps evenly to 40 Nm. –  Align tailpipes → Anchor.

On vehicles with front-wheel drive with clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer   Note On vehicles with clamp fitted between centre silencer and rear silencer, it is also necessary to align the rear silencer. –  Loosen bolts for front clamps → Item, → Item and rear clamp → Item. –  Push front section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that mounting for centre silencer is preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 9 mm. –  Tighten bolts on front clamps → Item and → Item evenly to 40 Nm.

–  Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow- until rear mountings for rear silencer are preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 9 mm. –  Align rear silencer so it is horizontal. –  Tighten bolt connections for clamp (rear) → Item evenly to 40 Nm. –  Align tailpipes → Anchor.

Vehicles with four-wheel drive without clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer –  Loosen bolts of front clamps → Item and → Item. –  Push exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that mounting for centre silencer is preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 9 mm. –  Tighten bolt connections of clamps evenly to 40 Nm. –  Align tailpipes → Anchor.

On vehicles with four-wheel drive with clamp between centre silencer and rear silencer   Note On vehicles with clamp fitted between centre silencer and rear silencer, it is also necessary to align the rear silencer. –  Loosen bolts for front clamps → Item, → Item and rear clamp → Item. –  Push front section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow-, so that mounting for centre silencer is preloaded by -a- = 7 ... 9 mm. –  Tighten bolts on front clamps → Item and → Item evenly to 40 Nm.

–  Push rear section of exhaust system towards front of vehicle -arrow- until rear mountings for rear silencer are preloaded by -a- = 9 ... 11 mm. –  Align rear silencer so it is horizontal. –  Tighten bolt connections for clamp (rear) → Item evenly to 40 Nm. –  Align tailpipes → Anchor.

Aligning tailpipes –  Align tailpipes so that distance -a- (left-side) is the same as distance -a- (right-side). –  At the same time, distance -b- must be obtained between bumper cut-out and top of tailpipes. l  Dimension -b- = min. 24 mm.
