Removing and installing coolant pipe (front) Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Hose clamps for hoses up to 25 mm Ø -3094-

t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- Removing   Note All cable ties which are released or cut open when removing must be fitted in the same position when installing. –  Drain off coolant → Chapter. –  Remove front bumper → Rep. Gr.63. –  Move lock carrier to service position → Rep. Gr.50. –  Remove secondary air pump → Chapter. –  Remove intake manifold → Chapter. –  Remove toothed belt → Chapter. –  Take off camshaft sprocket (left-side). –  Remove coolant pump → Chapter.

–  Unscrew toothed belt cover (rear left) -arrows-.

–  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- under engine. –  Use hose clamps -3094- to pinch off both hoses at hydraulic fluid supply pipe. –  Disconnect both hydraulic hoses from supply pipe. –  Detach coolant hose from coolant pipe (front).

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Move wiring clear at coolant pipe. –  Pull off coolant pipe towards the front. Installing Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:   Note t  Renew O-rings. t  Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips (same as original equipment) → Parts catalogue. t  Fit all cable ties in the original positions when installing. –  Clean and smoothen sealing surface for O-ring as required. –  Lubricate new O-ring with “G12+” and slide onto coolant pipe. –  Push coolant pipe into aperture on rear coolant pipe. –  Install coolant pump → Chapter. –  Install toothed belt (adjust valve timing) → Anchor. –  Install vibration damper → Chapter. –  Install viscous fan → Chapter. –  Install poly V-belt → Chapter. –  Install intake manifold → Chapter. –  Install secondary air pump → Chapter. –  Install lock carrier with attachments → Rep. Gr.50. –  Install front bumper → Rep. Gr.63. –  Fill cooling system → Anchor. –  Top up power steering fluid and bleed steering system → Rep. Gr.48. Tightening torques
