  • ◆ VW 416 B Tubular section
  • ◆ VW 519 Tubular section
  • ◆ V.A.G 1331 Torque wrench
  • ◆ Kukko 15-17 parting tool (commercially available)

  • Wheel bearing housing
    • ◆ Removing and installing
    • ◆ Do not grease bearing seat in wheel bearing housing before pressing in wheel bearing
  • Clamping sleeve
    • ◆ Always replace
    • ◆ Left and right identical
    • ◆ Grease all round with lubricating paste G 000 650 before inserting in wheel bearing housing
    • ◆ Press home in wheel bearing housing
  • Speed sensor
    • ◆ Pull out to remove
    • ◆ Fit drive shaft before installing speed sensor
    • ◆ Clean inner surface of hole before inserting speed sensor
    • ◆ Press home in clamping sleeve

→ Fig.1    Inserting assembly device in wheel bearing housing

  • ‒ Position support 3292/1 on bonded rubber bush.
  • ‒ Fit assembly device 3292 over support 3292/1 such that it makes contact.
  • ‒ Tighten threaded stem -arrow A- as far as it will go such that both jaws of assembly device 3292 are located -arrow B- in annular groove between bonded rubber bush and wheel bearing housing.

→ Fig.2    Screwing cross piece to assembly device

  • ‒ Align cross piece 3292/2 and bring fully into contact with support 3292/1 by tightening the two hexagon bolts.
  • ‒ Screw in spindle of cross piece 3292/2 -arrow- until bush is extracted.

→ Fig.3    Fitting bonded rubber bush

  • ‒ Insert bonded rubber bush in hole in wheel bearing housing such that both sides are at right angles.
  • ‒ Attach one thrust pad 3293/3 to each bush and screw in threaded stem -arrow- as far as it will go.

  • ‒ If necessary, remove corrosion and dirt from wheel bearing housing hole.
  • ‒ Large ID of wheel bearing faces wheel hub.
  • ‒ Press home.
