Input values on dash panel insert replacement
Input values on dash panel insert replacement
It is essential to observe the following on dash panel insert replacement:
Take the following action before replacing the dash panel insert:
–  If possible, read out the following values from the old dash panel insert and make a printout:
t  Values of all service interval display adaption channels.
t  Mileage counter reading in “Measured value block 002” (display zone 1).
–  If applicable, read off and note down the mileage counter reading.
  Note
t  Service interval display and mileage counter adaption must be performed in kilometres even in countries with speedometer display in miles. This involves converting the adaption values from miles to kilometres or entering the adaption values previously noted down.
t  Since Model Year 1998, the immobilizer control unit has been integrated into the dash panel insert. Immobilizer adaption must therefore be performed after replacing the dash panel insert.
Take the following action after replacing the dash panel insert:
–  Encode the dash panel insert → Chapter.
and
–  Adapt the mileage counter reading → Anchor.
–  Adapt the language version of the driver information system (DIS) → Anchor.

–  Reset the service interval display on completion of service → Anchor.
  Note
“Adaption channels 05, 06, 07” can be used to adapt the service interval display mileage and time intervals, e.g. to comply with country-specific requirements. Applicable specifications → Booklet802.
Vehicles as of Model Year 1998:
–  Adapt remaining mileage prior to “Oil change service” → Anchor.
–  Adapt remaining mileage prior to “Inspection service” → Anchor.
–  Adapt remaining time prior to “Inspection service” → Anchor.
and
–  Perform adaption of immobilizer following dash panel insert replacement: Immobilizer I → Chapter, immobilizer II → Chapter.
–  Perform vehicle key matching: Immobilizer I → Chapter, immobilizer II → Chapter.
