Removing exterior mirror

–  Before removing exterior mirror, mask door in vicinity and edge of exterior mirror housing with fabric-backed adhesive tape, as shown.

–  Unclip mirror glass using removal lever -80-200- and unplug connectors for mirror heating and automatic anti-dazzle function.

–  Unscrew bolts -arrows- from mirror adjustment unit. –  Tighten bolts to 1 Nm when installing.

–  Remove motor -1- from mirror adjustment unit and unplug electrical connector -2-. –  Detach mirror cover from inside of door → Trim, insulation; Rep. gr.70. –  Unscrew bolt with washer for mirror base. –  Pull exterior mirror out of door and set it down on door panel.

–  Remove bolts -arrows- for arrester bracket.   Note To remove bottom bolt, guide socket wrench through hole for central bolt for mirror base.

–  Pull arrester bracket -1- out of holes in mirror base. –  Loosely re-attach mirror base to door with central bolt.

–  Remove bolts (4x) from mirror mounting.

–  Guide wiring harness -2- with connectors out of mirror mounting -1-. –  Take mirror mounting -1- out of housing -2-.

–  Pull wiring harness -1- with connectors out of mirror housing -2-.

–  Take arrester bracket out of mirror housing.   Note If necessary, use a small quantity of soap solution to make it easier to fit the seal. –  When installing mirror on door, use assembly wedge to pull sealing piece -1- over mirror base -2-.
