Removing and installing belt buckle (standard seat, Recaro seat and seat with seat memory)
Removing and installing belt buckle (standard seat, Recaro seat and seat with seat memory)
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Torque wrench -V.A.G 1331-
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Checking seat belts → Chapter
–  Remove seat:
t  Standard seat: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter
t  Seat with electric adjustment: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter
t  Recaro seat: vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter
  Note
t  There are two belt buckle versions. Both versions are described in the following. Determine the version fitted in the vehicle concerned and perform the relevant work steps.
t  Version 1 → Anchor
t  Version 2 → Anchor
Version 1
Removing
  W00-0427
–  Remove bolt -2- for belt buckle -1-.
Vehicles with belt buckle sensor and switch in belt buckle (driver side only, country-specific):
–  Eject wire from red connector housing.
  A69-0272
–  Use screwdriver to lever out retaining hooks -4- on red connector housing -1-.
–  Press out red connector housing -1- to rear.
–  Wiring pin -6- (2x) for belt buckle sensor

–  Red connector housing -1- for belt buckle sensor and main power supply
–  Release wire locking element -2- in direction of arrow by prising out at opening -3-.
Wire locking element -2- has been released in illustration.
–  Eject wires -4- for belt buckle sensor from contacts 5 and 6, as well as wires -4- for switch in belt buckle (contacts 1 and 2) on driver side (country-specific).
–  Unfasten cable ties.
Installing
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Checking seat belts → Chapter
Install in reverse order of removal.
–  Renew bolt securing belt buckle.
Tightening torque

Version 2
  WARNING

Removing
   
–  If applicable, unplug connector -1- beneath seat (equipment-specific).
–  If applicable, take cable out of clip -2- (equipment-specific).
–  Remove bolt -3-.
–  Detach belt buckle -4-.
Installing
  WARNING
t  Observe safety regulations for pyrotechnic components → Chapter.
t  Checking seat belts → Chapter
Install in reverse order of removal.
–  Renew bolt securing belt buckle.
Tightening torque
