| 2 - | Side airbag (rear; driver/passenger side) |
| t | Removing: |
| – | Disconnect battery earth strap → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. |
| – | Remove seat bench (rear): vehicles up to 10.2004 → Chapter, vehicles from 11.2004 onwards → Chapter. |
| – | Remove rear seat backrest → Chapter. |
| – | Use screwdriver to prise out side fastening strips -3-. |
| – | Use screwdriver to prise out lower fastening strip -9-. |
| – | Pull lower cover -8- over bracket -7-. |
| – | Fold over cover in area of side airbag -2-. |
| – | Unfasten zip -1- at protective cover for side airbag -4-. |
| – | Unfasten retaining clip at connector for side airbag -5- and unplug connector. |
| – | Fold over cover and padding in vicinity of side airbag -2- so as to provide access to back of side airbag. |
| – | Remove nuts -6- (2x). |
| – | Take out side airbag -2-. |
| t | Installing: |
| – | Install side airbag -2- in reverse order of removal. |
| – | Fasten zip -1- at protective cover for side airbag -4- using pliers -VAS 6273-. |
| – | Switch on ignition. |

| – | Connect battery earth strap → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. |
Note| t | Observe measures to be taken after connecting the battery → Electrical system; Rep. gr.27. |
| t | If the airbag warning lamp -K75- indicates a fault following installation, you must interrogate, erase and then re-interrogate the event memory → Vehicle diagnostic tester. |
