Removing and installing locking cable on vehicles with vehicle ID No. from 8E_8A 002700 onwards

Removing
  Note
The locking cable must not be bent or kinked.
–  Shift selector lever to position “S”.
  Caution
Follow steps required when disconnecting battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.
–  With the ignition switched off, disconnect battery earth strap.
–  Remove storage compartment on driver's side → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.
–  Remove steering column cover → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.
–  Remove air conditioning control console → Air conditioning; Rep. Gr.87.
–  Remove ashtray from centre console → General body repairs, interior; Rep. Gr.68.
–  Remove selector mechanism cover → Chapter.
–  Turn ignition key to "ignition on" position.
   
–  Lift up retaining clip -2- on locking device and pull locking rod -1- out of ignition/starter switch.

–  Lift retaining tab -A- and pull locking cable off pin for locking cable eye in direction of -arrow-.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:
  A37-10401
–  Route locking cable below wiring harness -arrow A- and behind the dash panel brace -arrow B- without kinking.
–  Turn ignition key to “ignition on” position.

–  Insert locking cable -1- into ignition/starter switch.
–  Check that locking device -2- engages.
–  Turn ignition/starter switch to locked position “ignition off”.
–  Make sure that selector lever is in position “P”.

–  Fit locking cable onto pin for locking cable eye in opposite direction of -arrow-.
l  The retaining tab -A- must lock the locking cable
–  Adjust locking cable → Chapter.
–  Follow steps required after connecting battery → Electrical system; Rep. Gr.27.
