Removing and installing additional ATF filter on vehicles with 2.0 ltr. normally aspirated engine and 6-cyl. petrol engine Special tools and workshop equipment required

t  Used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- Removing   Note The removal and installation procedure is described for vehicles with 6-cylinder petrol engine. On vehicles with 2.0 ltr. engine some of the components will be different from those illustrated.

–  On vehicles fitted with auxiliary heater, remove bolts -arrows- securing exhaust pipe of auxiliary heater to noise insulation.

–  Loosen bolts and release quick-fasteners -1- and -2- and take off front noise insulation.   Note

Observe rules for cleanliness when working on automatic gearbox → Chapter. –  Place used oil collection and extraction unit -V.A.G 1782- below gearbox. –  Unscrew union nut -arrow- and disconnect ATF pipe going to additional ATF filter.

–  Disconnect air hoses -1- and -2- at secondary air pump.   Note The electrical connector -3- remains in place.

–  Unscrew bolts -1- on bracket for additional ATF filter -2-.

–  Remove cover -1- on right side of engine compartment.

–  Remove bolts -arrows-. –  Disengage activated charcoal filter solenoid valve -N80--1- at air duct. –  Remove air duct -2-.

–  Remove air cleaner housing -arrows-.

–  Detach ATF pipe from top of radiator -arrow-. –  Take off additional ATF filter. Installing Installation is carried out in reverse sequence; note the following:   Note Renew O-rings –  Checking and correcting ATF level → Chapter. Tightening torques
