t  Socket and key -T40031-
Procedure
–  Remove selector mechanism cover → Chapter.
  Note
Please note different procedures for vehicles with selector mechanism “PRND” (up to model year 2004) and vehicles with selector mechanism “PRNDS” (from model year 2005 onwards).
Vehicles with selector lever mechanism “PRND”
–  Shift selector lever to position “D”.
  Note
  W00-1181
Before adjusting the selector lever cable to basic setting make sure that clamping bolt has been tightened. The clamping bolt can be accessed via the hole in the selector mechanism, when in position “D”. Use socket and key -T40031- to tighten clamping bolt.
–  Tighten clamping bolt to 13 Nm in this position, using socket and key -T40031-.
Vehicles with selector lever mechanism “PRNDS”
–  Shift selector lever to position “S”.

  A37-0469
Before adjusting the selector lever cable to basic setting make sure that clamping bolt has been tightened. The clamping bolt can be accessed via the hole in the selector mechanism, when in position “S”. Use socket and key -T40031- to tighten clamping bolt.
–  Tighten clamping bolt to 13 Nm in this position, using socket and key -T40031-.
Vehicles with selector lever mechanism “PRND” and “PRNDS”
–  Shift selector lever to position “P”.
  A37-10031
–  Open quick release fasteners -2- and -3- and take off rear noise insulation.
  A10-1320
–  Unscrew support bracket for selector lever cable -1-.
  Note
Make sure the selector lever is in position “P”.
–  Press gearbox selector lever -2- on gearbox to rear as far as it will go until parking lock engages.
  Note
When the parking lock has engaged it should no longer be possible to rotate both front wheels in one direction at the same time.
–  Make sure that the selector lever cable has not been bent or kinked and that it is not under tension.

–  Make sure that selector lever cable -5- is securely attached to cable support bracket -4- with nuts -6- (13 Nm).

–  Bolt support bracket for selector lever cable onto bracket -1-.
–  Adjust selector lever cable → Chapter.
