Adjusting door
Adjusting door
Special tools and workshop equipment required
   
t  Setting gauge -3371-
  W00-0190
t  Template -T40038 /8-
t  The »min and max« markings are used to check the side adjustment.
t  The groove in the middle of the template is used to check the height.
t  The 0.4 mm graduation is used to check the underhang of the front door relative to the wing, and of the rear door to the front door.
t  The 0.6 mm graduation is used to check the underhang of the trim panels on the B-pillar from the rear door to the front door.
Gap widths
  A57-10366
  Note
t  All dimensions are given in »mm«.
t  All tolerance ranges for the dimensions are ± 0.5 mm.
t  The sides of the gap must be parallel (variation not more than 0.5 mm).
t  Dimension G = 5.5 mm
t  Dimension H = 4.5 mm
t  Dimension I = 3.5 mm

–  Remove B-pillar trim → Rep. gr.70.
–  Remove connector point at B-pillar → Rep. gr.97.
   
Longitudinal adjustment
–  Unscrew bolts -arrows B- at top and bottom of hinge and on A-pillar -item 1-.
–  Adjust door -2- lengthwise.
–  Tighten bolts -arrows B-.
l  Tightening torque → Item
Height adjustment
  Note
t  The hinge bolts → Item on the door are fitted bolts; therefore it is usually not necessary to adjust the door via these bolts.
t  If it does become necessary to make an adjustment via these bolts, the bolts can be replaced with bolts of the same length and property class.
–  Use template -T40038 /8- for adjustment.
  A57-10297
–  Position template at distance -a- = 150 mm and -b- = 50 mm.
–  If adjustment is correct, template must make contact with roof and trim strip at »point 1« (arrows), as shown.
–  At »point 2« underside of window guide must be inside groove.
Adjusting the door inwards/outwards
–  Slacken bolts -arrows A- at hinge (top and bottom) → Anchor.
–  Adjust door -2- lengthwise.
–  Tighten bolts -arrows A-.
–  Use template -T40038 /8- to check adjustment.
  A58-10107
–  Position template at distance -a- = 150 mm and -b- = 50 mm.
–  For »min« position »points -1- and -3-« must be making contact.
–  »Point -2-« may show a gap.
–  For »max« position »points -2- and -3-« must be making contact.
–  »Point -1-« may show a gap.

Adjustment via striker
  Note
t  The striker is only to be used for adjustment towards the centre of the vehicle.
t  Do not adjust the height of the door via the striker; otherwise the door lock will be damaged.
–  Loosen bolts -2-.
–  Move striker -1- until door is flush with body contour.
–  If adjustment is correct, striker should engage centrally in door lock.
–  Tighten bolts -2-.
