Detaching seat cover from padding and re-assembling (seat pan without seat depth adjustment)

Note

The procedures described relate to the standard seat (front, with manual or electric adjustment) and the convenience seat (front).

Special tools and workshop equipment required

t	Upholstery clip pliers -V.A.G 1634-

Removing

–	Detach seat cover and padding from seat pan → Chapter.

–	Detach cover -1- at rear and side from padding -2-.

–	On vehicles with convenience seat, unclip fastening strip -3- at front face of padding from clips -4-.

–	Unclip fastening strip -4- of cover -1- on padding -3- from clips -2-.

–	Detach cover from padding.

Equipment version with fabric covers:

–	Unclip contour wire -3- (inserted in pouch -4- of cover -5-) from clips -2-.

–	Detach cover from padding -1-.

Equipment version with leather covers:

–	Use pliers -4- to pinch off upholstery clips -3-.

–	Detach cover -1- from padding -2-.

Installing

Installation is carried out in the reverse order; note the following:

–	On equipment version with leather seats, use upholstery clip pliers -V.A.G 1634- to fit new upholstery clips.
