| 1 - | The driver presses the MODE button several times until the desired menu appears in the display of the control unit in dash panel insert -J285-. |
| 2 - | Each signal from the button is converted into digital information by the multifunction steering wheel control unit -J453-. It then sends the information across the LIN bus to the steering column electronics control unit -J527-. |
| 3 - | The steering column electronics control unit -J527- integrates the "MODE button pressed" information into a CAN convenience bus message. |
| 4 - | The data bus diagnostic interface -J533- reads the information from the CAN convenience bus and transmits it across the MOST bus to the front information display and operating unit control unit -J523-. |
| 5 - | Each time it receives the "MODE button pressed" signal, the front information display and operating unit control unit -J523- transmits the graphical data required for visualisation of the next selection menu in the display of the control unit in dash panel insert -J285- across the MOST bus. |
| 6 - | The data bus diagnostic interface -J533- transfers this information to the CAN instrument cluster bus. |
| 7 - | The control unit in dash panel insert -J285- reads the information and displays the appropriate selection menu. Steps 1 to 7 are repeated each time the MODE button is pressed until the radio station menu appears in the display of the dash panel insert. |
| 8 - | The driver selects the desired radio station by scrolling the thumbwheel for menu selection. The display in the dash panel insert is refreshed each time the thumbwheel is scrolled. The selection is confirmed by pressing the thumbwheel.
