Flange Shaft Seal and Ball Bearing, Replacing

Remove the center differential housing - A - (transmission installed). Refer to => [ Self-Locking Center Differential, Transmission Installed ] See:

Remove the center differential housing - A - (transmission removed). Refer to => [ Transmission, Assembly Sequence ] See: Service and
Repair/Overhaul/Transmission, Assembly Sequence.

Pressing out flange shaft

Remove the circlip before remove the flange shaft. Refer to => [ Circlip Installation Positions and ].

Position the center differential housing so the flange shaft does not come into contact with the Thrust Pieces (VW 401) and (VW 402) when
pressing it off.
