If equipped, remove left driveshaft heat shield - arrows -.

Remove the drive axle - 1 - from flange shaft and tie as far forward as possible, do not damage surface coating when doing so.

Place Drip Tray (V.A.G 1306) underneath.

Remove left flange shaft by fastening Puller ( T10037) to differential cover - arrow -.
-
Pry out flange shaft sealing ring.
