‹› If the polygon bearings - 2 - do not run smoothly with the flange shaft removed, this does indicate that the bearings are faulty. A test for noisy

bearings can only be performed with the bearings installed. 

‹› The polygon bearings can only be replaced together with the flange shaft.

‹› Always replace the flange shaft circlip - 5 -.

Clamp flange shaft in vise, using jaw protectors. Press previous circlip out of flange shaft grooved with new circlip - A -.

Drive in flange shaft using Centering Mandrel ( VW 295).

Install drive axe.

Install the right drive axle heat shield.

Check gear oil level in manual transmission and fill. Refer to => [ Manual Transmission, Checking Gear Oil Level ] See: Fluid - M/T/Service and
Repair.

Install noise insulation.
