‹› Drip tray (V.A.G 1306)
‹› Protective glasses
Test Conditions
‹› Gear oil temperature at approximately 20 °C (room temperature).
‹› The cover was removed from transfer case and all gear oil was thereby drained.
Test Sequence

To ensure vehicle is absolutely level, drive onto a 4-column lifting platform or over a service pit.

Place drip tray (V.A.G 1306) underneath transmission.
CAUTION!
Wear protective glasses.

Remove inspection plug - arrow -.
‹› The engine must not be started and the vehicle must not be towed if there is no gear oil in the transmission!

Slowly and evenly fill transfer case with gear oil over a period of at least 5 minutes (capacity and specification. Refer to => [ Transfer Case
Capacities ] See: Specifications/Capacity Specifications/09LA Transmission).
‹› A filling time of at least 5 minutes is required so that the internal oil level between the self-locking center differential and oil fill space can
equalize.
‹› The oil drain plug and seal must be replaced.

Tighten new sealing plug to 35 Nm.
‹› It is not necessary to check the oil level again at this stage.
