Windshield: Service and Repair
Windshield, Removing

-

Remove wiper arms.

-

Remove cowl panel trim.

-

Pull left and right water deflectors out from retaining strips (from bottom upward).

-

Remove sun visors on left, center and right.

-

Remove interior rear-view mirror.

-

Remove upper trim panels of A-pillars. See: Body and Frame/Lock Carrier/Service and Repair 

-

Pierce hole in adhesive bead from inside of vehicle using awl at bottom-left of windshield.

-

Pull cutting cord through adhesive bead into inside of vehicle using awl.

-

Lay cutting cord underneath and all around inside of windshield.

-

Secure end of cutting card at bolt for securing front wiper arms.

-

Insert VAG1474/13 protective foil between windshield and dash panel.

-

Secure beginning of cutting cord in winding device and cut first area of adhesive (up to about center of windshield).
