Pull the plastic securing spring - 2 - slightly towards the front and pull the pin - 3 - upward - arrow - only as far as necessary.

Remove the selector lever cable - 4 - from the shift mechanism.

‹› Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

Remove nuts - arrows -.

‹› A second technician is required when detaching the shift mechanism from below the vehicle.

-

Press the clips - 1 - and - 2 - inward, at the same time pushing the shift mechanism downward.

Installing

Installation is in the reverse order of removal, note the following:

Install the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable ] See: Shift Linkage/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Selector
Lever Cable.

Install the locking cable. Refer to => [ Locking Lever ] See: Locking Lever.

Adjust the locking cable. Refer to => [ Locking Lever Adjusting ] See: Adjustments.

Install the exhaust system and align it free of tension.

Check the shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Checking ] See: Procedures/01J Transmission/Shift Mechanism Checking.
