Power Take-Off Drive Chain, from 04.06

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Key (T40049)

‹› Locking Pin (T40071)

‹› Locating Pins (T40116)

Removing

‹› The transmission is removed.

‹› Engine oil drained.

CAUTION!
To continue performing the repair procedure, ensure lock carrier is installed and torque support is tightened.

Vehicles with multitronic transmission. Refer to: Remove damper unit => [ Damper Unit ] See: Harmonic Balancer - Crankshaft Pulley/Service
and Repair/Damper Unit and flywheel => [ Flywheel, Multitronic Transmission ] .

Vehicles with automatic transmission 09L. Refer to: Remove drive plate => [ Drive Plate, Automatic Transmission 09L ] .

Remove lower timing chain cover. Refer to => [ Lower Timing Chain Cover ] See: Timing Components/Timing Cover/Service and Repair/Lower
Timing Chain Cover.

CAUTION!
Danger of damaging the drive chain because the bolt thread is too long.

‹› Use bolts with a 22 mm maximum thread length - a - to attach the Key (T40049).

‹› If only longer bolts are available, then the bolt head must be installed in such a way so that thread length is still 22 mm only.

Install the Key (T40049) with 2 bolts -  arrows - on the back of the crankshaft.
