Molded Headliner, Loosening From Roof

Special tools and equipment

Vehicles without sliding/tilting sunroof:

-

Pry out cover frame for sliding/tilting sunroof.

-

Carefully pull down molded headliner from plenum panel and unclip from rear guide clips (3 parts).

NOTE:
-

After removing molded headliner at plenum panel, remaining paper can be removed by warming up with a hot air blower. Only small paper
residue must not be removed.

-

Roof temperature must not exceed 100 degrees C, otherwise paint damage can occur.

Vehicles with sliding/tilting sunroof:

CAUTION:

-

Bonded molded headliner must not be removed in one piece from roof, otherwise roof will become deformed.

-

For this reason the molded headliner must be cut in 100 mm widths.

-

Place separation cut in roof center lateral to roof.

-

Cut molded headliner in approx. 100 mm wide strips.

-

Remove pre-cut strips from separation cut from center outward from roof in sequence 1, 2, 3, etc (support with other hand).

NOTE:
-

If the paint layer on the inner side of the roof is damaged while cutting with carpet knife, prime appropriate area.

-

After removing molded headliner at roof, remaining paper can be removed by warming up with a hot air blower. Only small paper residue
must not be removed.
