Connecting Link

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Torque wrench (40-200 Nm) (VAG 1332)

‹› Replace the tie rod if it was loosened or removed at the connecting link.

Removing

-

Remove the tie rod. Refer to => [ Tie Rod ] See: Cross-Member/Rear Cross-Member/Service and Repair/Rear Suspension/Tie Rod.

Remove the nut - 2 -.

-

Remove the bolt - 5 - from the trailing arm/connecting link.

‹› Ignore items 1, 3 and 4 in the illustration.

-

Remove the connecting link from the trailing arm - 6 -.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

-

Tighten the bolts/nuts on components with bonded rubber bushings by hand. Raise the wheel bearing housing to tighten the bolts/nuts. Refer to =>

Insert the connecting link to the trailing arm - 6 -.
