Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:

Unclip the line from the Servotronic solenoid valve (N119) from the transport retainers.

Insert the steering gear from the left and insert the left front bolt in it.

-

Rotate the steering gear to the right until the right bolt can be inserted in it.

-

Position steering gear at plenum chamber (2nd mechanic needed).

‹› Make sure the bolt threads and contact surfaces are free of oil and grease.

Install the bolts but do not tighten them yet.

Tightening Sequence

-

Tighten the bolt - A -. Refer to - item 6 - in => [ Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview ] See: Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview.

-

Tighten the bolt - B -. Refer to - item 6 - in => [ Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview ] See: Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview.

-

Finally tighten the bolt - C -. Refer to - item 5 - in => [ Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview ] See: Power Steering Gear Assembly Overview.

Set the (VAG 1332) to 75 Nm to tighten the bolt - C -.

This specification applies only in conjunction with (T40037).

Use the (T40037) to tighten this bolt.
