Remove left side flange shaft by threading puller T10037 onto differential cover (arrow).

Pull out flange shaft using puller T10037 only until bearing on shaft is removed from transmission housing.

^

Pull flange shaft -A- out of transmission making sure that shaft remains centered in opening on differential (arrow).

Note: If you do not keep the shaft centered, the splines of the shaft will fall against the inner seal between final drive and transmission housing.
The seal will be damaged and require replacement.

Installing

Install in reverse order.

Additionally perform and note the following test steps.

Clean flange shaft and seal. If seal is damaged, replace it.

Half fill space between sealing lip and dust lip with grease G 052 128 A1.

Insert flange shaft -A- into transmission and guide shaft in seal on differential (arrow) keeping it centered.

Note: If you do not keep the shaft centered, the splines of the shaft will damage the seal between final drive and transmission housing. The seal
will then require replacement.
