Axial and Radial Clearance

Axial play, measuring

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Dial gauge holder VW 387

Dial gauge VAS 6079

Work sequence
-

Attach dial indicator VAS 6079 together with dial gauge holder VW 387 to cylinder block and set indicator against crankshaft counterweight.

-

Press crankshaft against dial indicator by hand, set indicator to "0".

Press crankshaft off dial indicator and read value:

Axial play: 0.090 to 0.251 mm

Work sequence

Never interchange used bearings.
