Pull out both selector shaft locking bushes (- item A - in Fig. A34-0648) using multi-purpose tool VW 771/1 and puller T40050.

Make sure that no gear has been engaged.

Push selector shaft - A - into transmission as far as it will go, simultaneously removing pin - B -.

Pull out selector shaft.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse sequence; note the following:

-

Push assembly sleeve 01E 311 120 - A - onto selector shaft - B -.

-

Install complete selector shaft.

Installation position: Chamfer of selector shaft points downwards.
