‹› A second technician is required when detaching shift mechanism below vehicle.

‹› If the clips - 1 - or - 2 - break during removal, then the selector mechanism must be replaced. If a broken part falls into the shift mechanism, it will

jam up the mechanism.

Press holder clips - 1 - and - 2 - inward, at the same time pushing shift mechanism downward.

Installing

Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:

‹› Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Shift Mechanism Assembly Overview ] See: Shift Mechanism Assembly Overview

Install and adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable and Locking Cable Assembly Overview ] See: Selector Lever Cable
and Locking Cable Assembly Overview.

Install locking cable. Refer to => [ Locking Cable ] See: Shift Interlock/Shift Interlock Cable/Service and Repair/09LA Transmission.

Adjust locking cable. Refer to => [ Locking Cable, Adjusting ] See: Shift Interlock/Shift Interlock Cable/Adjustments/09LA
Transmission/Locking Cable, Adjusting.

Install exhaust system and align it free of tension.

Check shift mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] See: Procedures/09LA Transmission.
