Mark the location of the subframe to the longitudinal members using a felt-tip pen.

Remove left and right subframe bolts - 1, 2, 3 - diagonally. 

CAUTION!
Suspension components could be damaged.

‹› Do not rest the vehicle on its wheels if the subframe mount, steering gear or subframe crossbrace are not installed correctly.

Lower the subframe using the Engine/Transmission Jack (V.A.G 1383 A) just enough so that the left engine mount can be removed, while at the
same time paying attention to the clearance for the left hydraulic oil hoses and the right electrical cables.

Remove left engine mount.

Installing

‹› Tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Subframe Mount Assembly Overview ] See: Service and Repair/Subframe Mount Assembly Overview. 

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

‹› Replace bolts which have been tightened to torque.

‹› During installation, all cable ties must be re-installed at the same location.

Align the subframe and using the marks made on longitudinal members during removal.

Tighten the subframe bolts only to the tightening specifications, do not tighten them further (tighten the bolts only after axle alignment).
