Camshaft: Service and Repair

Camshafts

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

‹› Locking Pin (3242)

‹› Impact Puller (T10133/3) from the Tool Set (T10133)

‹› Locating Pins (T40116)

‹› Hand drill with plastic brush attachment

‹› Protective eyewear

‹› Sealant

Removing

‹› Engine/transmission assembly removed and mounted on Scissor Lift Platform (VAS 6131 A).

‹› Here, removal and installation at left cylinder head is depicted in the following description.

Remove camshaft timing chains from the camshafts. Refer to => [ Camshaft Timing Chains ] See: Timing Components/Timing Chain/Service and
Repair/Camshaft Timing Chains.

Remove the Ground (GND) wire - 1 - from the guide frame.

-

Disconnect the connectors - 2 - and - 3 -. 

-

Remove the high-pressure pump.

-

Loosen guide frame bolts in sequence - 28 to 1 -.
