Front Flexible Coupling

Front flexible coupling, removing and installing

A twin pillar lifting platform should be used when working on the driveshaft.

Notes:  Before removing, mark the positions of all parts in relation to each other. Reinstall in the same position otherwise imbalance will be excessive
and the bearings could be damaged, which could cause rumbling noises.

Removing 

-

Remove noise insulation in the center (arrows).

Vehicles with 1 charge air cooler 
-

Disconnect air hose for turbocharger from air intake pipe.

All models
-

If fitted, unbolt exhaust mounting from subframe.

-

Disconnect exhaust system at clamp (arrows). 

-

Push clamp toward rear of vehicle.

-

Unbolt driveshaft from flexible coupling on bevel box (arrows).

Notes:  Use a suitable lever to brace the triangular flange when loosening the bolts.

Press the front driveshaft tube as far back as possible.
