Passenger Occupant Detection System

CAUTION!
‹› Follow the additional safety precautions for working on the passenger airbag deactivation seat occupied recognition system. Refer to

‹› Follow the procedure for the passenger airbag deactivation seat occupied recognition system after a crash. Refer to => [ PODS for

‹› The replacement part (service kit) for the seat occupied recognition system (for specific countries) is already precalibrated and must

not be separated under any circumstances. Refer to => [ Passenger Occupant Detection System ]. 

CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags. Refer to => [ Airbag Safety Precautions ] See: Air Bag Systems/Air Bag/Service
Precautions.

CAUTION!
The replacement part (service kit) for the seat occupied recognition system is already precalibrated and must not be separated under any
circumstances. The service kit consists of:

‹› Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706)

‹› Seat Occupied Recognition Pressure Sensor (G452)

‹› Passenger Occupant Detection System Mat

‹› Seat cushion

‹› Wiring harness between Seat Occupied Recognition Control Module (J706) and Seat Occupied Recognition Pressure Sensor (G452).

‹› The Passenger occupant detection system is only installed on the front passenger seat.

Removing

-

Disconnect battery ground wire.

Remove passenger seat:

‹› Electric front seat, removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Seat ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Front Power Seats.

Attach front seat to Fixture For Seat Repair ( VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on Fixture for Seat Repair VAS 6136 ] See: Body
and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Seat Versions Overview.

Remove backrest:

‹› Mechanically adjustable front backrest, removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Backrest ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and

Repair/Removal and Replacement/Front Manual Seats

‹› Electric front backrest, removing and installing, refer to => [ Front Backrest ] See: Body and Frame/Seats/Service and Repair/Removal and
