7 Series E65 740d (M67) SAL
Remove cylinder head gasket (1).
Clean sealing faces (2).
Installation:
- Remove engine oil and coolant from all tapped blind holes
on crankcase.
- Note number of holes in cylinder head gasket.

Installation of cylinder head is described separately from removal.
Assembly sequence for removal and installation is different.
Installation:

Remove engine oil and coolant from all tapped blind
holes on crankcase.

Note number of holes in cylinder head gasket.

Remove gasket remnants.

Do not allow any gasket remnants to drop into the oil and
coolant ducts.

Always replace cylinder head bolts.
Without working on engine block to alter piston protrusion, use a
new cylinder head gasket with same thickness marking (1)
(number of holes).
This illustration shows a 3-hole cylinder head gasket.
Place new cylinder head gasket in position.
