08 - Body and Accessories).
Condition
A customer may comment on a "Park Assist Off" message displayed on the driver information center (DIC).
Cause
This condition may be caused by obstructions/damage in the area of the sensors or an object alarm module software/calibration anomaly.
Correction
Important
DO NOT replace the object alarm module for this concern.
For a "Park Assist Off" DIC message, follow the steps below:
1. With the ignition ON, verify the park assist system is enabled through the DIC.
If the park assist system is manually disabled, enable the system. No further repairs are necessary.
2. Inspect the vehicle for the following reasons that may have caused the "Park Assist Off" message to appear. If any concerns are found, proceed to
Step 3. If none are found, proceed to Step 5.

One or more of the sensors may be blocked by snow, mud, ice, or other debris. This might happen after going through a car wash in cold
weather.

The silicone insulator surrounding the sensor maybe missing, cut or twisted.

Improperly installed sensor. The sensor may be crooked due to a tight wire harness.

One or more of the sensors may be scratched or the paint may be chipped.

Excessive paint thickness on a sensor may cause a "Park Assist Off" message. When replacing or refinishing a sensor, do not apply an
excessive amount of paint or clear coat.

Common items such as a hitch receiver, trailer, object hanging out of rear compartment, or a bicycle rack.

Damage to the front (DTS only) or rear of the vehicle or a misaligned sensor.

Incorrect front license plate bracket or front license plate outside of bracket.

The vehicle has traveled too fast in reverse at speeds of greater than 8 km/h (5 mph).
3. If any of the above issues are discovered, correct the issue and drive the vehicle in a forward direction at a speed greater than 40 km/h (25 mph).
4. After driving the vehicle greater than 40 km/h (25 mph), put the vehicle in Reverse and use a scan tool to verify the scan tool park assist system
status parameter is listed as "Enable".

If the parameter is listed as "Enable," the system is operating correctly and no further repairs are required.

If the parameter is listed as "Disable," proceed to Step 5.
5. Reprogram the object alarm module. Refer to Reprogram Object Alarm Module below.
