Oil Level Is Low
Oil Level Sensor Circuit
DESCRIPTION:
The BCM provides system voltage to the oil level switch, and the oil level switch provides the single path to ground. The BCM supplies and internally
monitors the voltage level of the circuit at pin 1D1. When the oil level switch is closed, the BCM will detect low voltage, but if the oil level switch opens
(low oil level condition), the BCM will detect high voltage. Once the BCM has determined that all of the failure conditions have been met, it will send
the "OIL LEVEL IS LOW" message to the CRT.
TEST CONDITIONS:
Ignition "ON."
FAILURE CONDITIONS:
1.
No code B334.
2.
Coolant sensor not failed.
3.
Coolant temperature drop since the last ignition cycle greater than XX degrees.
4.
Oil level signal low.
ACTION TAKEN:
Display the "OIL LEVEL IS LOW" message.
DIAGNOSIS:
Erroneous message - Short to ground on circuit 114 or shorted switch.
No message - Open in circuit 114, open in switch, or open in circuit 803.
