Starter Motor: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable at the battery.
2. Disconnect the positive battery cable at the battery.
3. Remove the intake manifold.
4. Remove the solenoid S terminal nut.
5. Remove the battery cable nut.

6. Remove the starter motor mounting bolts.
7. Remove the starter motor.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Before installing the starter motor to the engine, tighten the inner nuts on the solenoid terminals to be sure that they are secure in the cap.
