DEFROSTER PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT (INSTALL FOAM STRIPS)

MODELS:
1993 CADILLAC FLEETWOOD BROUGHAM

CONDITION:

Some customers may desire improved defroster performance.

CORRECTION:

Install additional seal to heater case at edge of air distributor door to direct more air flow to defrost, using the following procedure.

NOTE:

This modification may increase defrost performance by 10 to 15 percent, however, heat to floor performance may be reduced.

MATERIAL REQUIRED 
Square "closed cell" foam strips, 13 mm x 13 mm (1/2" x 1/2"). Three (3) strips required, 85 mm, 80 mm and 25 mm (3", 3-1/2" and 1") long. Closed
cell foam can be obtained locally at foam or upholstery supply stores. Use 3M* P/N 08011, GM P/N 12345096 Adhesive (or equivalent).

1.

Move both seats to their full rear position.

2.

Remove right and left floor carpet retainer assemblies. (See Service Manual, Section 10-6 for procedure.)

3.

Remove right side close-out panel under dash.

4.

Remove right side kick panel.

5.

Pull front carpet rearward to expose rear floor air ducts, and remove air ducts from floor air outlet.

6.

Remove air outlet retaining screw and air outlet off of heater module.
