Pitman Arm: Service and Repair

Pitman Arm Replacement

J24319-B Universal Steering Linkage Puller

-

J29107-A Universal Pitman Arm Puller

-

J6632-01 Pitman Arm Puller

-

J29194 Steering Linkage Installer (14 mm)

Removal Procedure 

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.

2. Remove the connecting rod from the pitman arm ball stud using the J24319-B (2).
3. Remove the pitman arm nut from the steering gear shaft.

4. Use the J6632-01 or the J29107-A in order to remove the pitman arm.
5. Inspect the following:

5.1.

The ball stud threads for damage

5.2.

The ball stud seals for excessive wear

5.3.

Clean the threads on the ball stud.

Installation Procedure 

1. Install the pitman arm on the pitman arm shaft.
