Ignition Coil: Service and Repair
Ignition Coil Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service Precautions).
1. Disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (See: Starting and
Charging/Battery/Battery Cable/Negative/Service and Repair/Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection).
2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and
Replacement/Engine Cover Replacement).
3. Remove the engine compartment fuel line. Refer to Fuel Line Replacement - Engine (See: Fuel Delivery and Air Induction/Fuel Supply
Line/Service and Repair/Fuel Line Replacement - Engine).
4. If replacing the right side coils, remove the evaporative emission purge pipe. Refer to Evaporative Emission Line Replacement - Engine (See:
Emission Control Systems/Evaporative Emissions System/Evaporative Emissions Hose/Service and Repair).
5. Reposition the engine wire harness as necessary.
6. Disconnect the spark plug wires (1) from the ignition coils.
