with 4L60E Automatic Transmission (RPO M30)
Condition
Some customers may comment on a fluid leak from the rear of the vehicle. This condition may be more likely to occur when the temperatures are below
freezing.
Cause
The rear output shaft seal (106) may take a set in cold weather, allowing the seal to leak.
Correction
1. Diagnose the source of the fluid leak. Refer to Fluid Leak Diagnosis (SI Document ID #403256).

If diagnosis of the transmission fluid leak determines that the leak is from the rear output shaft seal (106), continue with the next step.

If diagnosis of the transmission fluid leak determines that the leak is from a location other than the output shaft seal (106), continue with the
appropriate service procedure.
2. Remove the transmission from the vehicle. Refer to Transmission Replacement (SI Document ID #710311).
