Seat Back Cannot Be Adjusted By Lower Recliner Handle
MODELS:

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The seat back cannot be adjusted by operating the lower recliner handle.
DIAGNOSIS:
If the seat back can not be adjusted by operating the lower recliner handle, but can be adjusted by operating the upper recliner handle perform the Repair
Procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves the replacement of the recliner assembly and routing the recliner cable to a new location.
CAUTION:
THE RECLINER MECHANISM IS UNDER TENSION AND MAY UNWIND DURING REMOVAL. DISMANTLE THE LEAD SCREW
IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE SEAT BACK IS SEPARATED FROM THE ASSEMBLY.
1.
Remove the seat recliner from the vehicle following the procedure in the 1997 Sebring Convertible Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-7122)
beginning on page 23-13.
NOTE:
WHEN INSTALLING THE RECLINER, THE 2 BOLTS GOING THROUGH THE SEAT FRAME INTO THE RECLINER ARE SELF
TAPPING. INSURE THAT THE 2 BOLTS ARE SEATED FLUSH WITH THE RECLINER.
2.
Install the seat recliner following the procedure in the 1997 Sebring Convertible Service Manual (Publication No. 81-270-7122) beginning on page
23-14, perform steps 1 through 4.
3.
Route the recliner cable in front of the back frame strap (metal strap) at the bottom of the seat back frame, (Illustration).
