Steering Column: Service and Repair

Removal/Installation

REMOVAL
Remove steering column and shaft in numbered sequence, noting the following:
1.
Use steering wheel puller tool No. DT-1001-A or equivalent, to remove steering wheel.
2.
If only steering wheel is to be removed, scribe mating marks on steering shaft and steering wheel.
INSTALLATION
Install steering column and shaft, reversing numbered sequence, and noting the following:
1.
Attach dash panel cover and apply coating of Mopar Lock N'Seal adhesive (part No. 4057989) or equivalent, in bolt hole.
2.
Do not loosen column tube clamp bolts. If clamp bolts are loosened, tighten bolts while pulling steering shaft toward interior.
3.
Position front wheels in straight-ahead position before installing steering wheel.
