SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The cruise control becomes inoperative. The main (on/off) cruise control switch illuminates when pushed, but the light goes out when the switch is
released. This could be due to an improper wiring connection at the switch. The wiring harness is too short and partially pulls the wiring off the back of
the cruise control switch, causing this condition. Replacement of the main cruise control switch will not correct this condition. The following procedure
should be used on vehicles experiencing this condition.
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This procedure involves removing the main cruise control switch to gain additional wiring harness length.
1.
Use a trim stick to lightly pry up on the main cruise control switch and garnish.
2.
Carefully pull on the main cruise control switch wiring harness to gain an additional 1-2 inches of wiring length.
3.
Install the main cruise control switch and garnish.
