12. Remove the rear brake caliper from the knuckle. The disc brake caliper is mounted to the knuckle by the upper and lower slide pin bolts. After the
slide pin bolts are removed remove the caliper from the knuckle.
13. Support disc brake caliper by hanging it from frame of vehicle with wire. Do not let the brake caliper hang by brake flex hose.
14. Remove the rotor from the hub/bearing.
15. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut attaching the upper control arm ball joint to the knuckle.
16. Install Adapter, Special Tool, 6962, or equivalent on top of the lower ball joint in the rear knuckle.
CAUTION: Do not strike or apply heat to the knuckle when removing the ball joint stud from the knuckle. Apply force to the upper ball joint stud
using only the special tools, until the stud separates from the knuckle.
