Viper RT-10 V10-8.0L VIN E (1997)
INSTALL
1. Install replacement wheel stud into flange of hub and bearing assembly. Install washers on wheel stud, then install a wheel lug nut on stud with flat
side of lug nut against washers.
2. Tighten the wheel lug nut, pulling the wheel stud into the flange of the hub/bearing assembly. When the head of the stud is fully seated against the
bearing flange, remove lug nut and washers from wheel stud.
3. The rear caliper piston should be reseated into caliper piston bore, to ease installation of rear brake shoes. Reseat (bottom) caliper piston in the
caliper bore as follows. Assemble a 3/8 drive ratchet handle and 7/16 deep-well socket, then insert Spanner, Special Tool 6366 into deep well
socket. Insert lugs on face of spanner tool, into matching holes in face of caliper piston. A lot of force is required to be exerted against caliper
piston while using spanner tool, to start process of caliper Piston retraction.
4. Rotate caliper piston in a clockwise direction until caliper piston is fully seated (bottomed) in the caliper bore. Then remove caliper piston rotating
special tool.
5. Install the rotor on the rear hub/bearing.
6. Install the inboard brake shoe into the caliper by sliding it between the rotor and the caliper.
7. Install outboard brake shoe into caliper by sliding it in between the rotor and the caliper.
WARNING: Hold anti-rattle spring in place while installing brake pad retaining pin into caliper assembly. If anti-rattle spring is not
held in place during installation of retaining pin, anti-rattle spring may fly off caliper causing possible injury.
8. Install the anti-rattle spring into the brake caliper. Be sure anti-rattle clip is positioned correctly between brake shoes and caliper. Install brake
shoe retaining pin into caliper assembly from the outboard side, until small end of retaining pin is in inboard side of caliper assembly. When
installing retaining pin be sure it passes through loops in anti-rattle spring.
