Check and adjust the installed length of the boot (Fig. 1). Total installed length must be 105.0 mm (4.134 in.). Move the small end of the boot in or
out on the shaft to obtain specified length. On 4-cylinder models, there should be a gap of about 28 mm (1-1/8 inches) between the inner and outer
boots. On 6-cylinder models, the boots should touch (no gap).
CAUTION: Before tightening the small end boot clamp, be sure boot length is correct and that the boot is seated on the larger diameter (2) of the shaft
as shown in Figure 1. The boot must not be clamped to the smaller diameter (3) of the shaft.

Install and tighten the small end boot clamp as outlined in step 7. Tighten this clamp to 20 inchpounds (2.3 N-m) torque.
