Brake Master Cylinder: Description and Operation
With Antilock Brakes
Fluid Level Switch Location In Fluid Reservoir
The master cylinder used with the Traction Control/ABS is a Teves, standard tandem design except that central valves are used in conjunction with the
traditional compensation ports. The center valve is a spring loaded ball and seat design which is unseated by a stop in the master cylinder when the
brakes are released. The ABS uses a traditional compensating port Allied Signal master cylinder. A fluid level switch is located in the master cylinder
fluid reservoir. The switch closes when a low fluid level is detected. The FLS-1 turns on the Brake Warning Lamp by grounding the lamp circuit. This
switch does not disable the ABS system. The vacuum booster used with the Teves Mark IV-G ABS is the Allied Signal, zero lost travel type booster.
The Teves Mark IV-G Traction Control with ABS, uses a Teves vacuum booster.
