Removal and Installation Removal | -
Release the parking brake. | | -
Remove the rear section of the exhaust heat shield. | | -
Detach the parking brake cables from the parking brake cable equalizer. | | -
Detach the parking brake control. | | -
Disconnect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector. | | -
Remove the parking brake control. - Pull the parking brake cable equalizer through the opening in the floor.
| Installation NOTE:New parking brake control assemblies are supplied with the self - adjust mechanism pre - set. | -
To set the preload of the parking brake control self - adjust mechanism, lift the parking brake control lever to the fully raised position. | | -
Locate the parking brake cable equalizer between your feet. | | -
Extract 40 mm of parking brake cable. - Press down the pawl.
- Simultaneously pull the parking brake control to extract 40 mm of parking brake cable.

Release the tension on the parking brake cable. - Press down the pawl.
- Simultaneously release the tension on the cable.
- The cable self - adjust mechanism will hold the cable until load is applied to the cable.

Insert the parking brake cable equalizer through the opening in the floor. | | -
Connect the parking brake warning indicator switch electrical connector. | | -
Install the parking brake control | | -
Reconnect the parking brake cables to the parking brake cable equalizer. | | -
Install the rear section of the exhaust system heat shield. | | |
