Removal and Installation

Removal

All Vehicles
WARNING:
WARNING:Do not smoke or carry lighted tobacco or open flame of any type when working on or near any fuel related components. Highly flammable vapors are always present and may ignite. Failure to follow these instructions may result in personal injury.
  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable.
  1. Release the fuel system pressure. For additional information, refer to Section  310-00 Fuel System - General Information.

  1. Remove the air cleaner outlet tube.

  1. Remove the intake air resonator.

  1. Disconnect the fuel supply and return lines.

  1. Disconnect the vacuum line from the fuel pressure regulator.

  1. Remove the accelerator cable clip.
    1. Detach the accelerator cable from the quadrant.
    1. Remove the accelarator cable clip.

  1. Detach the accelerator cable.
    1. Pull the accelerator cable from the bracket.
    1. Detach the accelerator cable.
Vehicles with speed control
  1. Disconnect the speed control cable from the throttle body.

  1. Remove the speed control cable from the bracket.
    1. Detach the cable from the bracket.
    1. Push the retaining clip from the bracket and pull the cable out.
All Vehicles
  1. Disconnect the fuel injector electrical connectors.
  1. Secure the fuel injector wiring harness to one side.

  1. Remove the fuel injector supply manifold bolts.

  1. Remove the fuel injector supply manifold assembly.

Installation

All Vehicles
  1. WARNING:

    NOTE:
    NOTE:Install a new fuel injector lower O-ring seal.
    To install, reverse the removal procedure.
    • Lubricate the fuel injector lower O-ring seal with clean engine oil to aid installation.
